Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Dish
  • Oven

Ingredients

Base Mixture

  • 1 can refried beans 16 oz, any brand works great
  • 1 cup sour cream preferably full-fat for best texture
  • 1 packet taco seasoning use mild if needed
  • 0.5 cup cream cheese softened

Cheese & Add-ins

  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded, divided
  • 1/4 cup diced jalapeños optional, for some heat
  • Fritos corn chips for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Let cream cheese soften on the counter for easier mixing.
  • In a medium bowl, combine refried beans, sour cream, softened cream cheese, and taco seasoning. Stir until fully blended and smooth.
  • Mix in half of the shredded cheddar cheese to ensure every scoop is cheesy.
  • Fold in diced jalapeños if using, for an added spicy kick.
  • Transfer mixture to a baking dish (9x9 inch works well). Sprinkle remaining cheddar evenly over the top.
  • Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and the edges are bubbling.
  • Remove from oven carefully and allow to cool slightly before serving with Fritos or chips of choice.

Notes

Customize it your way – skip the jalapeños for a milder version or try different cheeses for fun flavor twists.
